Data Collection Guide for Registrars
This comprehensive guide delivers essential information regarding the implications for REAL data collection, key regulatory guidelines supporting its implementation, tips for REAL data collection, and best practices in a compact format ideal for formal or informal training venues. The guide is formatted into three parts that can be used separately or together.
REAL Data Collection: Patient Stories
The video vignettes (~10 minutes) provide a unique viewpoint on data collection, featuring patients who have had various encounters and challenges in their healthcare journeys. These patients openly share their personal experiences and offer suggestions for enhancing data collection practices to benefit all individuals.
Written Role Plays
Role-play exercises give the opportunity for people to assume the role of a patient or a registrar and act out a given situation. Role-plays engage learners in situations or scenarios that are realistic and can be used to prompt discussions about how to handle different situations. This toolkit offers three role-play scenarios for the education and training of registrars.
Video Role Plays
The REAL data collection role-play video (~10 minutes) portrays the encounter of a Hispanic patient who experiences the collection of data related to his race, ethnicity, and language. This role-play effectively underscores a typical situation that Hispanic patients often come across when engaging in REAL data collection. Following the role-play is educational content that offers further background and insights on this issue.
